Fairy Flute at Tipperary

Fairy Flute was back out not long after her last run in the hands and heels condition race at Limerick. She was back at her 1m 4f distance again and in fairness she ran a really decent race coming through at the end to take 7th and looking like she could have stayed on further which begs the question - should she be tried over longer? After the last run, I wondered if she needed to go back to the 1 mile-ish races that she won at before she came to GE but now I'm back to thinking does she want longer or are they happy with what she is doing at this distance and think she will win one eventually? It looks like it's the latter as the jockey on the night, club favourite Declan McDonagh said she was slow out of the stalls which is something that has to be worked on but was very happy with her turn of foot in the run in and thinks she'll win one. I did ask Alex on the app after Limerick what she thought her distance was but she didn't reply although she is unlikely to go against what her boss thinks. I realise I'm questioning the judgement of one of the best trainers in horse racing having been in this world for 6 months but it does seem obvious with form like 89797 over distances between 1 m 3.5 f and 1m 4.5f.

I've just realised while looking at her form that this was over the slightly longer trip of a mile 4 and a half so maybe she will see longer again next time as she finished strongly, keeping on well. It reminded me of her first run this year at Dundalk when she finished well there also. A much better performance and she was fine the next day. Looking forward to see where she goes next and more importantly over what distance. Alex commented that she was fine the next day.
