Bettatogether at Fairyhouse

With odds on the course of 33/1, it would have been a Valentines Day Massacre if Bettatogether had've romped home in this one. He had been entered in this race, a 2m hurdle and a 2m 4f steeplechase at Clonmel tomorrow. Luckily for us Clonmel was cancelled but Fairyhouse went ahead.  I got speaking to Mary who looks after Bettatogether on race days. She said he had settled much better this time than he had on New Years Day where he pulled hard, had nothing left at the end and was pulled up. The feeling was he maybe needed longer and possibly over fences. Today he got longer over hurdles and he did a lot better. Jack Kennedy was on board and kept him mid division all the way but when he asked him to go he didn't change gears although he did finish strong and came in 5th of 8. Afterwards Jack said he wanted better ground. He'll get plenty of that from March onwards. Hopefully his two runs on heavy ground will serve him well moving into the spring.

Edit: I should start mentioning the horse was absolutely fine after the race and the next day.
